Chennai Super Kings is one of the most successful IPL teams overall. The franchise’s team has been incredibly consistent and has made the playoffs in almost all IPL seasons. However, their performance in the recent season was very ordinary, and everyone is eager to know CSK retained players in 2023.

One thing to look forward to is who will be the CSK captain in 2023. Will that be MS Dhoni or someone else? Will they buy a new captain? However, it will be interesting to see how the franchise’s decisions pan out.

MS Dhoni- Captain cool MSD alone is 50% of CSK. He has led the side successfully for many years with 4 IPL championships and 2 champions league titles. Ravindra Jadeja- Jadeja was initially appointed as the captain of CSK from the 2022 season but was removed midway through the tournament. Jadeja scored 116 runs in 10 matches with an average of 19.33 with 26* being his best score in the tournament. He also underutilized himself with the ball and picked only 5 wickets in 10 games. Jadeja and the CSK management don’t seem to be on the same page anymore and Jadeja is likely to part ways with CSK.

Moeen Ali- Moeen Ali was retained by CSK for INR 8 crores before the recent season. Moeen batted in the top order and accumulated 244 runs in 10 matches with the help of a 93-run knock against the Rajasthan Royals. Moeen also picked 8 wickets in the tournament. His overall performance was average due to the lack of match-winning performances you expect from a star player like Ali.
