Heinrich Klaasen’s blistering 81 off 46 guides the Proteas to a 2-0 lead one away from securing the series.

The 2nd T20I of the 5-match T20I series between India and South Africa took place yesterday at Barabati  Stadium in Cuttack in front of a full house on Sunday evening. Unfortunately, captain Rishabh Pant lost the toss again and the blues were put in to bat first by the Proteas. Indian Teams was only able to manage a mere total of 148 for 6 in 20 overs. Ruturaj Gaikwad failed to score big once again falling to Rabada in the very first over of the game. Ishan Kishan and Shreyas Iyer batted through the powerplay. Ishan scored 34 of 21 balls with 3 amazing sixes. Shreyas anchored the innings till the 14th scoring 40 of 35 balls. Meanwhile, Rishabh Pant(5) and Hardik Pandya (9) did not contribute much. Axar was sent ahead of the comeback man Dinesh Karthik in the 13th over but he also perished for 10. After being 112 for 6 in 17 overs India managed to score 148 courtesy of some nice finishing by DK and Harshal.  SA  bowling attack was good overall, Nortje took 2 wickets, and Parnell, Pretorius, and Maharaj picking one each. But the pick of the bowlers was KG Rabada – 4 overs -15 runs- 1 wicket @3.75 economy.

DK SMASHING A SIX  IN THE MATCH YESTERDAY

South Africa too had a bad start with the bat losing 3 wickets during the powerplay. Reeza Hendricks, Pretorius, and last match’s hero Rassie Van Der Dussen all being the victims of Bhuvneshwar Kumar. Captain Bavuma ensured SA lost no more wickets from one end and steadied the innings with Heinrich Klaasen. Klaasen was the star of the match yesterday. He took his time at the pitch, once he got settled he took on the bowlers, and oh boy! He did that in style.

Yuzi Chahal, Hardik Pandya, and Axar Patel were all hammered to all parts of the ground leaking lot of runs.  Bhuvi was the lone warrior with the ball taking 4 wickets just giving away 13 runs in 4 overs. He even took a wicket in his last over but then the game was done and dusted till then.

Man of the match – Heinrich Klaasen for his match-winning  knock of 81

Other star performers– Bhuvi Kumar and Kagiso Rabada

Should India worry now?

Well they should, the series is now 2-0 in the favour of SA and more importantly the young guns auditioning for the T20 World Cup have not fired properly. Ruturaj has failed on both occasions. The bowling unit has disappointed with the likes of Yuzi Chahal and Hardik looking really ordinary till now. Newbees Harshal and Avesh have done well in patches. The biggest disappointment till now has been Rishabh Pant with his captaincy skills. He is new to this job and will learn as matches go by. Hope he comes good in the rest of the matches.
